As with every annual iPhone launch, the latest Apple smartphone is the best. Faster processors, better cameras and a wealth of minor, yet important, technical tweaks make iPhone 13 the best in class. But for me, the display is the real standout upgrade.
Compared to previous iPhones, gazing into the 13 Pro's display is like looking into another world. I've tried to go back and do a side-by-side comparison with my old handset, and I can categorically say that it'd be incredibly difficult to use it again.
The Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion - to give it the full name - isn't just crystal clear, it also moves at lightning speed. 120Hz refresh rate makes for transitions so slick that it's actually jarring if I use another handset without it. Even a casual observer who was looming over my shoulder while I was typing up this article remarked about how great the screen looked.
Watching movies and TV shows on an iPhone 13 Pro display is also exceptional. I've never really been a fan of squinting down at a phone while trying to watch the latest Netflix boxset, but I've found myself slowly, but surely using the iPhone 13 Pro as my viewing device of choice. Watching Ted Lasso in bed these days is something I've started looking forward to.
It really does have to be seen to be believed. Obviously, with the current rate of technological advances, the iPhone 13 Pro display will be usurped in due course. But right now it's the best looking thing I've seen in a long time.
