The makers and publishers of titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games is starting an independent record label with Ibiza club night specialists, CircoLoco.
CircoLoco Records, as it will be called, is quite a leap for both brands as neither has a background in the record label business. But with Rockstar Games continuously putting excellent soundtracks in its games, and CircoLoco having the inside track on what's big on the party island, this is a partnership that seems destined for big things.
CircoLoco Records will launch its first project in July 2021. The debut will be a compilation album named Monday Dreamin' and feature 20 artists that have been selected by both Rockstar Games and CircoLoco.
CircoLoco's Nick Bendetti says of the deal “Both CircoLoco and Rockstar have a real passion for music, so it felt very natural to come together and for Rockstar to take this step with us”. He continues “This first release will represent 22 years history of CircoLoco as a longstanding brand in electronic music. But for the future, we want to create new collaborations and crossovers and scout for talent to give a platform and extend reach for new artists.”
