Apple AirTags, iMacs and more - everything you need to know about the Apple Event

Words by Nathan Irvine

Lost and found

Apple has finally unveiled its rumoured AirTags at the recent showcase from its US HQ. But it didn't stop there. Apple also showcased a load of new hardware that's sure punch your wallet into bits.

Here's everything you need to know...

Apple AirTags are a little piece of genius

Apple AirTags represent the evolution of the Find My feature that help us locate lost iPhones, AirPods and the like. Using the phone's camera and built-in GPS you’ll be guided to your lost item – like car keys – through your phone or iPad. They’re slim enough to slide comfortably into a wallet, which means your days of furiously searching for your valuables are over. And at just AED 129 - AED 439 for a four-pack - they're a sound investment.

Ted Lasso is back

Apple TV+’s smash hit, Ted Lasso is back for another season on July 23. The sports comedy that netted Jason Sudeikis the Best Television Actor award at the recent Golden Globes, is a laugh out loud and heart-warming show and will see fictional football side AFC Richmond try to make it back to the English Premier League after getting relegated last time out. If you’ve not watched the first series, give it a watch today.

New iMacs now come in different colours

Inside, the Apple iMacs have been built on the new M1 architecture (read: hi-tech gubbins) and its quieter and faster than ever before. But the biggest difference to the layperson is that it now comes in a number of different colours.

Gone are the days of having a silver and black iMac sitting on your desk, and in comes yellow, red and more. New iMacs now contain a 1080p front facing camera that automatically works out the best image for you, making video calls much more flattering. The speakers have been given an upgrade. And it has a 24” 4.5k retina display for crystal clear images.

M1-powered iPad Pros are the best in class

Faster graphics, improved augmented reality (AR) and compatibility with Xbox Series X and PS5 controllers – the new iPad Pro is more powerful than ever. You can also get it with 2Tb of storage so you can carry high-res images, videos and numerous Apps anywhere you like. It also has 5G connectivity too.

There’s a new purple version of iPhone 12

Erm, the clue is the title here. It looks nice enough, mind.
