The British supermodel does some serious brooding on the island of Sicily
David Gandy, Dolce & Gabbana and Sicily go together like the green, white and red stripes of the Italian flag. The British model has a long association with the Italian fashion powerhouse since first appearing in the now-iconic ads for its Light Blue fragrance in 2007 that turbo-boosted his career. Now, Gandy is again working with D&G.
For its SS20 campaign of optical eyewear and sunglasses, Gandy, 38, was snapped on the Italian island by major fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco wearing a variety of frames.
As well as D&G, Gandy – a father of one-year-old daughter Matilda – is the face of Marks & Spencer menswear, Aspinal of London luggage and even has his own beverage company, which launched in late 2019.
“When you build a brand you have to be very careful about how it comes across,” says Gandy. “I’m a perfectionist but am aware that perfection is something in your own mind – it doesn’t really exist.”
