Rounding off its 2021 events, Apple's latest "Unleashed" showcase was another bombastic affair. As well as showing us more of the Apple HomePod and introducing us to the 3rd generation of AirPods, this latest event shone the spotlight brightest on the new Macbook Pro.
We could try to summarise exactly what the "unleashed" side of things means, but this Apple's own slightly dramatic showreel is ...
For those that skipped the video, the "unleashing" refers to the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips that are at the core of the new MacBook Pros. This dedicated chip from the Apple production line is its most powerful ever. In layman's terms, it means that it can handle far more things at incredible speeds.
Surprisingly, Apple has removed the touch bar from its new MacBook Pros. But what it has taken with one hand, it has delivered numerous options on the other. The superfast charging Magsafe power connector is back and comes with a battery that is now capable of 21 hours of use - depending what apps you're running, of course. There's a little notch on the screen like the iPhone that is home to a 1080p camera, and the audio performance is superb.
Apple has added some new slots too, including a HDMI one that can be hooked up to bigger screens. It's definitely the biggest and best MacBook Pro that Apple has ever made, which is why it comes at a starting price of AED 8,499.
Apple MacBook Pro prices start at AED 8,499, Apple AirPods 3rd-gen from AED 749 and the Apple HomePod Mini price is TBC.
Although the showstopper was the MacBook Pro, the latest Apple event was punctuated with lot of other interesting gadgets.
The new Apple HomePod Mini comes in three different colours - orange, yellow, and blue - and is set to be an even more integral part of your home thanks to intelligent learning. And the update Apple AirPods, which have been redesigned to provide even more comfort in your ear, can now achieve theatre like audio whilst tracking head movements for the very best sound quality.
All-in-all, it's been a bumper - if not expensive - 2021 for Apple gadget fans.
